Candytopia, an experiential adventure of sweets, chooses

Mall of America® as first Midwest location

BLOOMINGTON, MN— December 4, 2018

Candytopia, the candy-coated experiential adventure that has caught the attention of hundreds of thousands around the country, announces Mall of America as its newest and first Midwest location. Previously popping up in Santa Monica, San Francisco and New York, the multi-sensory experience will open at Mall of America for a limited run in March 2019 on level 2, West.

The 17,000 square foot attraction will feature candy-coated, larger-than-life interactive art installations and full sensory experiences. As guests make their way through more than a dozen rooms, they will witness a candy kingdom along with plenty of samples throughout the entire adventure including sours and gummies, chocolate treats, nostalgic favorites, and many more sweet surprises. Several of the interactive art installations will be inspired by cultural Twin Cities moments and landmarks, rendered in entirely edible candy pieces.

“When we opened our doors over 26 years ago our goal was to create one-of-a-kind memorable experiences for our guests,” said Senior Vice President of Leasing Heather Brechbill Swilley. “Candytopia is a fun, innovative first-to-market pop up which successfully incorporates experiential, entertainment and retail components. It’s a perfect complement to Mall of America’s existing retailers and attractions.”

With the launch of the new Candytopia mobile app, guests can now take their surroundings to another level by using AR technology to enhance the interactive experience and create opportunities for capturing even more sharable content. Guests will also be able to rent selfie lights that attach to their phone to capture the perfect moment to share on social media.

“Since the launch of our sugar-filled wonderland, we have sought locations in top retail destinations where our unique immersive adventure can thrive and attract new audiences,” says John Goodman, CEO of Candytopia. "We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Candytopia to Mall of America and look forward to sharing our sweet retreat with its 40 million annual visitors from near and far.”
