Mall of America announces nine new local businesses opening inside the third installment of Community Commons

The unique retail space continues to feature new local, minority-owned businesses every six months

BLOOMINGTON, MN— October 6, 2021

One year ago, Community Commons opened at Mall of America as a donated space for 17 local businesses impacted by the pandemic and destruction from the civil unrest that took place throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Now, in its third installment, the cooperative retail space continues to feature a revolving group of local entrepreneurs every six months, giving brands the opportunity to test their concepts at Mall of America and expand into new audiences.

Mall of America is excited to announce the following nine new brands now open within Community Commons:

  1. Coco Nashay
  2. Edicion Especial
  3. Highly Favored Delicacies
  4. House of Bella Hair & Fashion
  5. House of Queens
  6. Joe Peezy Wear
  7. Mike’s Premium Organic Beard Oil
  8. Tipton Hammond Arts
  9. Under Dawg

The new businesses entering the space benefit from no rent for the initial three months, allowing them the opportunity to get up and running. After three months, they have the opportunity to remain in Community Commons with percentage rent.  After their six-month period, brands have the opportunity to open an independent space within Mall of America.

The success from the first and second rounds of Community Commons has led to the following local businesses opening their own, independent spaces within Mall of America:

  1. Biftu’s Blends/Global Braids (Level 2, North)
  2. Dauren Worldwide (Level 2, North)
  3. Fabulous Diva Boutique (Level 2, South)
  4. 4TheLove (Level 3, West)
  5. Herbal Alchemy (Level 2, West)
  6. La Michoacana Purepecha (Level 2, East)
  7. Llakta (Level 2, South)
  8. Urban 29 (Level 2, South)

Community Commons is open on Level 2, South at Mall of America. The businesses in the space benefit from the continued in-kind support from the award-winning team at KNOCK inc., a full-experience creative agency who uses people-focused design to build love and loyalty for brands.
