Mall of America® celebrates Black Friday by bringing back the nostalgia of doorbuster deals in an exciting and fun way

Giving away incredible prizes with a total value of more than $100,000

BLOOMINGTON, MN — November 14, 2023

Mall of America® is gearing up for another successful Black Friday shopping experience for guests to enjoy. In the spirit of the holidays, Mall of America will continue its tradition of closing on Thanksgiving. The Mall will re-open its doors on Black Friday at 7 a.m. to a line of thousands of excited shoppers ready to take advantage of unbelievable deals, win exceptional prizes, and create lasting memories. This year, the Mall is featuring a playful twist on Black Friday Doorbusters, but in a larger-than-life way.

“Black Friday has evolved through the years, but many of us remember the heyday of Black Friday doorbusters,” said Jill Renslow, Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer at Mall of America. “To bring back the doorbuster excitement, we created a one-of-a-kind Black Friday activation with must-have prizes that guests have to see to believe. Watching the fun and magic of the season come to life at Mall of America is amazing, as our visitors light up with joy from our beautiful décor, festive events, and best-in-class shopping. We have welcomed nearly 20 new brands so far this year, and we have an additional 10 openings during the holiday season for our shoppers to enjoy. We are excited for them to experience their first Black Friday at Mall of America.”

Our Black Friday prizes are back by popular demand! As guests come through the North Entrance doors on Black Friday, 4,000 visitors will be given one of our coveted Black Friday Mystery Cards that will reveal what prize is in store for them and where they will receive it. They will either be directed to pick up their prize at one of our retailers, or they will be sent to the gold redemption center for a prize valued between $20 to $250. The big winners will head to our exciting new Doorbuster Zone! At the Doorbuster Zone, guests will get to select their designated doorbuster to bust through a physical door to retrieve the guests’ prize valued between $250 to nearly $600. From local celebrities to characters from across the galaxy, the designated doorbusters are sure to help lucky guests get into the holiday spirit like never before.

The first 200 people in line at the North Entrance of the Mall on Black Friday will receive a $25 Mall of America gift card in addition to their Mystery Card. Plus, one lucky winner within the first 200 guests will be the WONDEROUS WONKA WINNER. This winner will receive a $2,500 gift card courtesy of the film WONKA, in theatres on December 15.

Black Friday at Mall of America wouldn’t be complete without festive live entertainment all weekend long. Stop by the Huntington® Bank Rotunda to watch as KFAN FM 100.3 kicks off Black Friday with a special live broadcast from the Mall where they will be giving away a trip for two to see the Minnesota Vikings play in Las Vegas, including airfare, hotel stay, and game tickets! Guests are also invited to enjoy a break from their holiday shopping with music by Bells2Go, an unbelievable performance featuring an instrument that plays 35 cast bronze bells at the same time.
