Businesses working to rebuild from the civil unrest throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul communities to open temporarily in donated space at Mall of America

BLOOMINGTON, MN— September 21, 2020

Mall of America will open a space at Mall of America called Community Commons in an effort to help businesses impacted by the civil unrest that took place throughout Minneapolis/St. Paul this spring. The donated space will feature 17 independent shops whose spaces were affected. Beginning October 1, Community Commons at Mall of America will provide a temporary haven for these businesses to “set up shop” and resume operations while they work to rebuild their original spaces.

Located on Level 2, South of Mall of America, the 4000-square-foot space will include 17 different businesses featuring a variety of products including apparel and accessories, art and culture, food and beverage, personal care and family gifts. Businesses within Community Commons will remain in place through at least the end of the year.

“The Community Commons initiative is one of hope and possibility as Mall of America joins the efforts to help rebuild the hearts, minds and livelihoods of our diverse retail community,” said Jill Renslow, EVP of Business Development and Marketing for Mall of America. “We are proud to welcome these businesses to Mall of America where guests from all over the world will be introduced to an even greater slice of what our retail community has to offer beyond the doors of Mall of America.”
