Mall of America® draws massive crowds and star power for its Black Friday celebration

More than 14,000 guests filled the Mall within the first hour of opening and JoJo Siwa made a surprise appearance to kick-off the holiday magic

BLOOMINGTON, MN — November 28, 2025

Mall of America® once again proved why it’s the ultimate destination for Black Friday! Within the first hour of opening, more than 14,000 shoppers entered the doors, eager to kick-off this beloved tradition. This is a nearly 8% increase in traffic compared to last year. Guests began lining up as early as 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the North Entrance to be among the first to experience Black Friday at MOA.

New this year, early risers enjoyed a Black Friday Pre-Opening Celebration featuring live music and an exciting countdown as the doors opened to mark the start of the biggest shopping day of the year.

The morning started with tens of thousands of dollars in prizes given away. Out of the first 200 arrivals, one lucky guest was named the Spot it! Sweepstakes winner and took home $5,000, courtesy of Asmodee®, doubling the prize awarded last year. Thousands of guests received a Mystery Card, revealing whether they won a Silver prize, redeemable at participating Mall retailers, or a coveted Doorbuster prize. Adding a unique twist to Black Friday nostalgia, the Doorbuster Zone featured larger-than-life characters physically busting through doors to award prizes valued up to $600.

The biggest surprise of the morning came when JoJo Siwa made her Doorbuster debut, busting through a door to the sound of her brand-new holiday single, “Message to the World (Little Drummer Girl),” and personally delivering a prize to one lucky guest. Following her guest appearance, she’ll deliver a special free Black Friday performance later in the day, where she will debut the song live for the first time ever, along with other hits from her catalog.

“Black Friday at Mall of America is where the season truly comes to life,” said Jill Renslow, Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer at Mall of America. “What makes the day so special every year isn’t just the incredible shopping, but the shared moments of excitement and connection that our guests experience together. It’s a tradition that continues to evolve, and every year we are proud to create an environment where the spirit of the season truly shines.”
